With one look at me it comes as no surprise that I love a big bright and preferably white smile...
and I'm not afraid to use it! *bright lip optional*
So here's a little breakdown of how I keep my teeth and mouth happy and healthy for an extra sparkling smile:
EVERY MORNING AND NIGHT
1. ARBONNE PURE MINT TOOTHPASTE + DENTAL FLOSS
First step is a good quality toothpaste and floss - brushing and flossing twice a day is essential. Obvious yes, but I'm still surprised how many people 'forget' to brush their teeth (how can you forget something you've been doing every day for as long as you've had teeth??!).
I love this toothpaste, or more accurately, tooth gel. It's good for my sometimes sensitive teeth and gums and the mega minty extract is super refreshing. It's vegan, plant-based, is formulated without flouride and lasts for yonks. I use it with a medium bristle brush and follow up with floss. I used to be scared of flossing because it would hurt my gums, but it's such an important part of good overall health, not just dental health, so I persisted and now it's part of my morning and nightly happy teeth routine.
PS. My dentist once told me, "Only floss the teeth you wish to keep." And I bet now you will never forget that either!
EVERY MORNING & NIGHT
2. ORAL B 3D LUXE WHITENING RINSE
This is my new fave mouthwash for many reasons - taste, doing what it says it will, and bonus...I still get to keep my brain! I've not been a fan of the extreme power mouthwashes that really did feel like they were exploding in my mouth. That's just not a sensation I want to wake up to nor experience right before bed thank you very much. Diva, maybe. Discerning, yes. Because they rarely did anything other than leave me breathing like a dragon for 5 minutes afterwards.
This one, on the other hand, I would describe as 'soft' and effective. It claims to whiten teeth in 7 days and I did see a slight improvement even before the next product got involved. It's still minty, protects against stains, is alcohol free, freshens breath and helps reduce the amount of plaque and bacteria in my mouth. Brain cells intact.
But it’s important to note (from the national dental care website) that mouthwash shouldn’t be used as your only weapon in the fight for good oral health; it should be included as part of your daily dental routine, along with regular brushing, flossing and professional dental check-ups.
ONCE A WEEK (For a Month)
3. PEARLY WHITES AUSTRALIA PROFESSIONAL TEETH WHITENING KIT
I am so happy I got this kit (well two - one for Ben, one for me). Confusing at first, yes, but I think that comes down to me not watching anyone use one of these before - #hint. There's a mouth guard that will hold the whitening gel that must first be shaped to your teeth. I thought it a little tedious, but then I read that you have to send your impression back to some other companies and then they make your mouth guard up for you. Perspective is so ironic sometimes.
My main hint with this, though, is to actually lay down like they suggest for the full 30-60mins. Swallowing the gel is not the nicest thing in the world and it can lessen the effectiveness of the whitening...#obvs.
Overall, I love this and the results are well worth a little patience. I will definitely be doing it all again in 6-8mths depending on any colour changes that happen over that time, as well taking a trip to my dentist for a thorough professional clean to keep my smile bright and my mouth healthy.
