BELTS & BITS STORAGE | SORTED!
Crying over lack of space in you small apartment? I feel you. The struggle is so real.
I found the best storage solutions for some of my most annoying of storage dilemmas and I just had to share!
First up, the small - but very important - stuff: sunnies, scarves, belts, bags and jewellery.
Before I had it all mushed up in bright green plastic baskets from the cheap shop....elegantly placed on the ironing board. The ironing board is not furniture. Horrid was an understatement. So I ditched them and left my jewellery splayed all over the bedroom floor for a few months while I decided what to do with it. That in itself was a disaster with tangles and breakages galore. Good way to do a chuck out Sam.
In steps the faithful friend that is Ikea.
Sometimes you just have to have faith that the place will provide the goods, and provide it did.
No amount of website trawling would have led me to these boxes like seeing them in the flesh would. (I apologise right here if you don't live anywhere near an Ikea. Take this inspo and go on the hunt. You got this!)
Big white tubs with sectioned inserts and perfectly fitting lids - that's three layers of storage right there. So genius.
Scarves and belts in the big box, sunnies, bracelets and necklaces in the sections and hanging earrings on wine glasses with other bits and bobs on the easy reach lid toppers. I seriously felt like I'd lost weight in the 10 minutes it took me to sort all that stuff out. And anything that didn't fit found a new home via Vinnies. I was practically superwoman.

It gets better.
There is nothing lacking about this Ikea LACK shelf. It's a tall drink of water. And it's beautifully holding my current fave shoes, bags and mirrored jewellery box. And being slender, it's footprint is tiny and that's a bonus in space challenged apartments like mine.
Equally genius is the Kmart Clothing Rack with shelves, now holding the Ikea boxes and some more shoes. We got some velvet hangers (they are not so great, btw...they leave bits of black fibre on everything!) and hung some colour co-ordinated clothing, looking super cute. Annnd, the rack will come in handy as we organise some event outfits we have coming up. #bonus
In the actual wardrobe we took the messy hole in the wall that it was, to a much more aesthetically pleasing and organised hang and hold-all with the help of handy plastic drawers and some shoe shelves. Basic, but oh so needed. It sure makes getting dressed a dream. And no more clothes go unloved in some deep dark cavity.
And finally, some simple jewellery dishes make good use of and cover up ugly bedside tables, perfect for our everyday pieces, books and pretty things.
And yes, Ben lives here too and loves it. He is a pro shopper and is right frothing over that clothing rack. He has an amazing capsule wardrobe going on too.
The pink and cream colour scheme remind him of the Californian desert - which we both love - hence the Cholla Cactus Garden print above the bed....and the fairy lights are the stars in the desert sky at night...naturally 😉
I hope that was helpful/inspiring!
