Why not wrap up the year with a look at some of the trends that stuck (and didn't entirely suck) during 2017.
It was a year of throwbacks with fashion taking us tripping as far back as the 70's (hello burgundy velvet boots). But it seems home wares took us back even further with the arts and crafts feel of the textured textiles next to the sleek and sexy metals of bar carts, decanters and drinking glasses. I'm feeling like the Great Gatsby called and wants to join the party.
Indeed, it's an interesting mix, and one that gets me very excited to see what 2018 will bring. Salut.
GOT THAT GOOD GREENERY
I hope you managed to get a dose of Pantone's colour of the year in and around your life somehow in 2017...even if it was just by adding more plants to the house. A hard one to wear for most, but a fun one to decorate with. So Spring. So Palm Springs even. But my bets are on a red for 2018.
LITTLE LOIUS TRUNK BAG
Want. Need. Must have. What more can I say, but I've been loving this bag sick all year and in all it's various colourways and quirks. Who knew miniature luggage would be so stylish?!
A GOOD DROP
Did you get to test out 2017's Red Wine of The Year according to Cellarmasters? You know it's party season right?! Perfect timing for this catch-up task my friends. And if you love a good drop, you won't regret it. This might just be a yearly winners list you'd like to follow in 2018 and beyond....you know, in the name of research and good taste. 😉
HELLO HOT HI-CUT
Some say stop, and although I'm yet to try the trend myself, I think if I hadn't grown up watching Baywatch I might not be as for it as I am. I think it's sticking around awhile longer. The matching wedgie I hear also does wonders for a booty. I might just have to give it a whirl this summer. PS: Wear sunscreen.
There's still time to bring some delicious cocolux sparkle to your 2017 if you haven't already. Seriously divine candles yo. And you get a 100g travel candle complimentary with all first online purchases.
SO freakin extra RN. I kinda don't think I'd have anywhere to wear them (except maybe in Vegas), but then I kinda think I'd live in them. Hats off to you if you rocked a pair of these over the knee knife boots this year. 10 points bonus for this hot hot hot red!
BOUNTIFUL BAR CARTS
Glasses, bottles and bar ware is so beautiful these days it'd be sacrilege to hide it all away in a cupboard. Mix new and vintage, add flowers, brushed or beaten metal buckets and your favourite drinks of course. I'm still yet to hunt down the perfect cart for our tiny space, but goodbye 2017, hello 2018 carried on goal! Besides, do you really need any justification on this one?!
WONDERFUL WOVEN WARES
I'm so very happy about the Arts and Crafts Revival that's been slowly making a mainstream comeback in the homewares department for a few years now. I think especially here in Australia with our affiliation with bringing the outdoors in and low-key casual living vibes this is a style we are going to be seeing a whole lot more of. Bravo. PS. Anthropologie make these most luscious textured Morroccan-esque cushions and I have these exact ones. They are as beautiful as they look online 😉
STORE OF DREAMS
Literally. If you find one, just a heads up you might need a moment or 50 in there. My dream house goals are made of this. Thank you Zara.
End the year with your very best hair day...and shimmy the night away like the self-care queen you are!
PS. I wanna know your faves?
