If you're anything like me, your inbox is one of the first things you look at in the morning and one of the last things you look at at night (I know, not the most zen practice, but hey, I got mail!). So it has to be inspiring, beautiful, or at the very least, interesting! Anything other than that, unsubscribe.
Here's what I subscribe to, and how I segment, to ensure my inbox is more of a happy place than a haphazard one:
Design*Sponge | It's Interiors, Travel, Food, DIY and Life and Business. Think “Martha Stewart Living for the Millennials” as the New York Times put it. And it's all run by the creative beauty who gave us In The Company of Women, Grace Bonney. Yes please.
The Design Files | Australia's most popular design blog edited by Lucy Feagins, featuring Australian and International Homes (my fave part), people and their extraordinary routines, art, Tasty Tuesdays, gardens and TDF Films. A lot of pinning happens as a result of opening these emails!
Decor8 | Holly Becker's - the gal behind best-selling book Decorate - and her pals, bring decor, design and lifestyle direct to your inbox in all it's drool-worthy and DIY glory. As a subscriber for yonks, I've been known to attempt one or two projects myself and can vouch for this being one of the best interior inspiration blogs for renovators, especially of charming country cottages like our Mill House. #yourewelcome
Gorman | Melbournite Lisa Gorman brings the goods. Seriously. I became a fan of the brand years ago and have been building up quite the collection of quirky, colourful printed dresses, cool-kid coats, and chunky funky shoes. Collab-ing with an array of artists for the most epic patterns possible, Gorman emails keep you shopping smart to snatch up their latest offering...which is...well, often!
Sheike | Pronounced shh-eek, this Aussie brand and their inbox contributions are always chic with their structured, sleek, work to dinner to drinks ensembles. Think early access to worthwhile sales, styled party looks so you don't have to think you just click, and refreshingly, not much else. An easy win, take it.
NET-A-PORTER | Subscribe for the dreamy dresses and designer bags and watch your wishlist grow every lunch break. I don't even mind that they send a lot of emails in comparison to most brands - I think they know I'm obsessed! A subscription to the physical Porter Magazine is next. Whisk me away to Italy, stat!
Vogue | So much fashion - celebrity fashion steals, straight from the runway inspiration, behind the scenes at fashion shows, and stunning weddings - it's the bomb, with plenty of stories to pick from sitting neatly in one email. Up to the minute and keeping me in the loop for all things hot and not (apparently, who decides these things anyway?!) without me ever having to pick up the magazine. Oh, and first served at Vogue Online Shopping Night (VOSN). #yay
Luxury Escapes | Literally, a luxury escape from work for awhile as you get lost in many a paradise found in these emails. Deals galore, and often, but I'm OK with that because more world exploration is on my to-do list too, right?! My little daydreaming treat..save opening them for lunch breaks...or your 3.30itis coffee chug.
Hotels.com | I couldn't remember why this was my hotel booking site of choice consider there are so many others that claim to have better deals. And after one glance at their sites I remembered why - Hotels.com is soooo easy to navigate, easy to book with, easy to get all the information you need, and have a cinch rewards system that we have made great use of over the past couple of years. Special deals, new locations, and reminders about trips you only half planned (clever). Plus they have an app which gives you another discount if you book through it. User-friendly travel booking = the good kind of mail!
Danielle La Porte | An absolute goddess of spiritual realness, Danielle La Porte is heaven sent. She fills my inbox with White Hot Truth from her new book and daily love taps like "you're the answer to your question." She brought us The Desire Map and the Fire Starter Sessions and can teach you how to facilitate these journey's for others. She is poetic, refreshing, no BS, and beautifully human. She is my most favourite non-guru gal, and if you hit her up and she'll soon be yours too.
Gabby Bernstein | The first of these spirit junkies I discovered, Gabby has a soft spot in my heart - and a large spot in my bookcase. She has penned 6 books about her spiritual awakening from NYC party girl to 'next generation thought leader,' and her latest The Universe Has Your Back is a #1 New York Times Best-Seller. (Read my review on this and 6 other books for spiritual business builders here). Supremely eloquent and poised, she wants you to be the happiest person you know. #metoo
Rebecca Campbell | Feeling like an old (and very wise) friend, I love Bec for her strength, femininity and reliability. She calls us soul sisters to rise in her books Light is the New Black and Rise Sister Rise, and I count these and their lessons, prayers and poems for getting me through 2 of the hardest years of my life. She an Aussie living in London and I think we are already besties. I think she'd be totally OK with you stepping into the circle too...welcome.
"Inspiration comes from everywhere: books, art, people on the street. It is an interior process for me."
- Colleen Atwood
Marie Forleo | Business? Pleasure? Whatever, I love her. I wanna be like her (and her hair) when I grow up! Marie sends rocking short emails usually with a click through cool video on how to get the business and life you love. She's smart, funny and so on the money when it comes to solutions for the real life modern working gal. And that's what we want a little more of right, money. Follow Marie, she will teach you more in two minutes than most "business" books will.
BlogLovin' | Yep, this is in the business section - this is the bloggers follow bible. One hit scores you all the latest posts from all your fave follows. Genius I tell you, genius. I'm saving so much space in my inbox and getting massive value in one. Follow me and your other faves this way and you'll never miss a post. Simples.
HEALTH & BEAUTY
Lorna Jane | One email you will love to open if you're an #activewear junkie like me. Lorna is consistently releasing new, on-trend designs and her Move Nourish Believe mantra's, recipes and mojo - including the coolest wallpaper downloads - make for highly clickable content. Add to cart.
Arbonne | Shop as a Preferred Client ($27AUD for 20% for 12mths) and receive all the best vegan anti-ageing skincare, health, wellness, and beautiful makeup offers, super quick how-to tutorials and new product releases to your inbox*. I love this company so much I decided to consult with them. But all bias aside, they only email you to remind, inform, educate and the best ones - their surprise and delight deals. #getonit
Adore Beauty | I'm a sucker for great quality candles and home fragrance (especially Voluspa), for Olaplex hair treatment and for Kester Black nail polish. Plus, since studying it, I find it fascinating to see 'what's hot' on the beauty scene and what keeps coming back as the essentials to looking fabulous - water, sleep, quality skincare with quality ingredients and beauty from the inside out.
So did you just upgrade the inspo in your inbox with any of these?
Have you got any other suggestions for me?
PS. If you found this post inspiring, best you never miss another one....
